Why Wear Long Riding Boots?

How To Measure For Long Riding Boots

You will need a couple of things to measure yourself for long riding boots.

We always recommend to get the best fit is to wear the breeches that you would be riding in.   Breeches are preferred to jodhpurs and riding socks to normal socks, this will then give you the smoothest fit up the leg.

1. A tape measure

2. A chair

3. Someone to help

When you are ready

1. Remove any footwear

2. Sit in the chair

3. Ask your colleague to
4. Take your calf measurement around the widest part of your calf

5. Lower leg measurements from the back of your heel on the ground and measure up to the bend in your knee

Please take the measurements accurately as we can then allow for a drop in height.

(Typically we will allow up to 2cms of drop)

Things to consider include

1. The type of leather
2. The discipline you do (Dressage riders can prefer a long boot to showjumpers)

We find some people can cope with tighter boots then others.

It is best for your new long riding boots to be as snug and tall as possible as the boots will stretch and drop.

Younger riders can be more sensitive to stiff boots and tightness of calfs.

If you are looking for a value boot for growing feet that have a soft forgiving fit then we can recommend the Rhinegold Luxus Long Riding Boots.
